How we test and compare tools

The same checks, in the same order, for every tool we write about.

1. Prices come from the vendor

We read each vendor's official pricing page, including prices that only load with JavaScript, and record list prices, annual discounts and plan limits. Every guide shows the date prices were checked. If a price is unclear, we say so instead of guessing.

2. We compare like for like

Feature lists hide the details that matter. We line up tracked keywords, projects, seats, report limits, AI prompt limits, API access, trial length and refund terms so you can compare plans that cost roughly the same.

3. We name who each tool is for

Every pick gets a clear "best for" and real cons. A tool can be excellent and still be the wrong choice for a small budget or a solo user.

4. Hands-on testing

Where we use a tool in our own work or during its trial, we add those observations to the guide. We don't publish star ratings until a tool has been through hands-on testing.

5. Updates

SaaS prices change often. We re-check guides regularly and update the "Updated" date when something changes. If you spot an outdated number, please tell us.
